1 cup poha (aval/flattened rice), white or brown
3/4 cup jaggery (palm sugar), grated
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
1/2 cup coconut, grated
2-3 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
10-15 raisins [optional]
5-10 cashew nuts [optional]


  1. Heat a pan on medium flame. Dry roast poha (aval/flattened rice) for 1 minute and set aside.
  2. In the same pan dry roast coconut for 1 minute and set aside.
  3. Grind poha, coconut, jaggery and cardamom powder to a fine mixture.
  4. Heat ghee (clarified butter) in medium flame and fry raisins for 30 seconds. 
  5. Switch off the flame and add ground poha mixture. Mix well.
  6. Make laddus with this mixture and store it in an air tight container.
