1 kg chicken breast, cubed
3/4 cup yogurt
1 tablespoon + 2 teaspoons ginger paste
1 tablespoon + 2 teaspoons garlic paste
2 teaspoons red chili powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
3 teaspoons lemon juice
3 tablespoons tomato paste

6 tablespoons ghee(clarified butter)
2 onions (medium size), finely chopped
3 tablespoons cashew nuts
11/2 tablespoons almonds
1/2 cup milk

1 cup tomato puree
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/4 teaspoon hing(asafoetida)
1/4 teaspoon amchur(dry mango powder)
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1/4 cup cream
1 cup water
1 teaspoon garam masala
Cilantro/Coriander leaves, finely chopped (garnish)
Salt to taste


  1. Marinate chicken with yogurt, 2 teaspoons ginger paste, 2 teaspoons garlic paste, red chili powder, garam masala, lemon juice,tomato paste and salt for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat a pan in high flame and cook the marinated chicken for 10 to 15 minutes or until the chicken is cooked.
  3. Heat a pan in medium flame. Add 4 tablespoon ghee(clarified butter) and saute onion till golden brown. Add cashew nuts and almonds and fry these for 30 seconds. Keep aside to cool down. Add milk to this and grind to a smooth paste.
  4. Heat ghee in a pan in medium flame. Add cumin seeds, tomato puree, 1 tablespoon ginger paste, 1 tablespoon garlic paste and cook this for 1-2 minute or until the tomato puree is well done.
  5. Add ground onion paste, coriander powder, hing (asafoetida), amchur (dry mango powder), red chili powder. Mix well.
  6. Now add cooked chicken to it with 1 cup of water. Simmer for 1 to 2 minutes.
  7. Add cream and simmer for 1 more minute. Switch off the flame.
  8. Finally add garam masala and garnish with coriander leaves.
