Pazham Pori literally means fried bananas. Try this super simple recipe made with ripe bananas for a delightful evening snack.

Prep Time :10 min
Cook Time: 10 min
Serves: 3

1 big ripe plantain (Nendrapazham/Ethakka), thinly sliced
1 cup all purpose flour
3 tablespoon sugar
3 tablespoon semolina (rava), very fine [See the note 1 below ]
1/2 to 3/4 cup water
salt to taste
oil to deep fry [See the note 2 below]

Directions

  1. In a bowl mix flour, sugar, semolina and salt.
  2. Add water little by little and make a batter with thick consistency.
  3. Heat oil to medium hot. Dip plantain slices in the batter one at a time and deep fry till both the sides are golden brown.
Note :

  1. Use very fine semolina for the crispness. If you don't have semolina use rice powder instead.
  2. Pazham Pori tastes best if fried in coconut oil.
