Green Peas Masala, a quick dish which goes well with chapati, appam, porotta or rice..

Cook Time: 20 min
Serves: 3


1 1/2 cup green peas,fresh or frozen (see the note below)
tablespoon coconut oil
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 big onion, thinly sliced
2 tsp ginger, finely chopped
2 tsp garlic, finely chopped
2 green chilies 
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
2 teaspoon coriander powder
1 1/2 cup water
1 medium tomato
salt to taste

  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add fennel seeds, onion, ginger, garlic and green chili.
  2. Saute till the onions are in golden brown and grind it to a fine paste.
  3. Add this ground mixture to the pan. Add water and mix it well.
  4. Then add green peas (see the note below), tomato and salt. Mix well and cook it for 5 to 7 minutes.
  5. Open the pan and simmer the curry to your preferred consistency. 
  6. Finally add cilantro and serve. 
Note: If  you are using dried green peas, soak it overnight. And pressure cook the soaked green peas till its done.
