Tomato Chutney
Tomato Chutney

Tomatoes - 1 cup
Onion - 1/4 cup
Channa dal -2 tbsp
Dry red chilly- 5
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Oil - 1 tbsp
Salt to taste

for tempering:

Mustard - 1tsp
Hing/Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
Dry red chilly - 2
Curry leaves - 6
Oil - 1 tbsp


1) Heat oil in a pan.

2) Add channa dal and roast it .

3) Add dry red chilly and stir well for a minute.

4) Add onion and fry it till golden brown. 

5) Then add tomatoes and stir well till its done.Keep it aside and allow it to cool.


6) Blend this mixture to fine paste and keep it aside.

7) Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, hing/asafoetida, dry red chilly, turmeric powder and curry leaves. 

8) Pour this tempering to chutney and enjoy this with Dosa/ Iddly.
