Spicy mixture

Gram dal(Fried) - 1/4 cup
Peanut - 1/4 cup
Thick poha - 1/2 cup
Hing - a pinch
Chilly powder - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Sugar - 1 tsp
Salt to taste

for boondi:

Besan /Gram flour - 1 cup
Hing - a pinch
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Baking soda - 1/4 tsp
Water - as required

for Sev:

Besan /Gram flour - 1 cup
Rice flour - 1/4 cup
Hing - a pinch
Water - as required


  1. Combine all the ingredients for sev. Add required water and knead to a soft dough.
  2. Heat oil in a pan . Place the dough in an idiappam maker .Press it into hot oil in a circular motion. Fry both sides till it turns golden brown. Do this in small batches. Crush the sev with hands and keep it aside.
  3. Combine all the ingredients for boondi. Add water to make a smooth batter(Dosa batter consistency).Hold a small hole ladle over the pan and gently pour the batter on it and spread the batter with a spoon.Fry it till golden and crisp. Keep it aside.
  4. Fry peanuts, gram dal, poha and curry leaves separately . Drain and keep it aside.
  5. In a mixing bowl combine boondi, sev and all the fried ingredients.
  6. Add red chilly powder, sugar, hing and salt.Mix it well.
  7. Allow it to cool completely and store it in an airtight container.
