Ingredients

For Marination
Chicken pieces - 500 gm (Medium size)
Ginger - small piece
Garlic - 2 to 3 pods
Lemon - half
Green Chilly - 2
Coriander leaves - 4 tbsp finely chopped

For Masala

Onion - 2 big
Tomato - 1 medium
Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
Bay leaves - 2  
Cloves - 3
Cardamom - 2
Cinnamon - 1 medium
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 2 1/2 tsp
Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves
Salt
Oil


Instructions

  1. Grind black pepper, green chilly, ginger, garlic and coriander leaves with 2 tbsp of water.
  2. Add the ground masala from step 1, lemon juice, salt and marinate the chicken for an hour.
  3. Heat oil and add onion, bay leaves, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger garlic paste and fennel seeds. Cook till onion turns golden brown.
  4. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala and mix well.
  5. When oil starts appearing add tomato, salt and curry leaves.
  6. Add chicken pieces and a little water and cook till the chicken is done.
  7. Thicken the gravy to your preferred consistency .
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
